How to print barcode labels for your products

Generate EAN-13 or Code-128 barcodes in QuPOS and print price labels with shop name, price and MRP on 50×25 mm, 38×25 mm, 2-up/3-up rolls or A4 sheets.

About 15 minutes · Applies to: Barcode Billing, Textile, Supermarket

Items that came without a maker barcode can be made scannable in a few minutes. QuPOS generates the barcode number and prints labels at the size you use.

You will need

  • Barcode label printer (thermal transfer or direct thermal) or an A4 printer
  • Labels: 50×25 mm, 38×25 mm, 2-up/3-up rolls, or A4 sheets of 40 or 65

Steps

  1. Generate barcodes

Leave the Barcode box empty when you add an item in Items, and QuPOS generates one. Choose EAN-13 or Code-128 in Settings → Billing.

  2. Pick a label size

Open Barcode Labels (or tick items in Items and click Labels) and choose your label stock: 50×25 mm, 38×25 mm, 2-up or 3-up rolls, or A4 sheets with 40 or 65 labels.

  3. Choose what to print

Select shop name, item name, price and MRP. In the Textile type, the size and colour of the variant can be part of the item name.

  4. Set quantities

Enter how many labels to print per item, for example the quantity just received in a purchase.

  5. Print a test label

Print one label and scan it at the billing screen to confirm it reads correctly.

  6. Print the batch

Print all labels and stick them on the products or shelf edges.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • On a label printer, set the label size in the Windows driver to exactly match your stock, including the gap between labels.
  • If a barcode does not scan, print it larger or darker; very narrow bars on 38×25 mm labels need a good printer.
