QuPOS FAQ
Answers about the free trial, the ₹1,500 lifetime licence, offline use, SQLite vs SQL Server, printers, scanners, GST and VAT.
Price, trial and licence
How much does QuPOS cost?
A lifetime licence costs ₹1,500, paid once. There is no monthly or yearly fee, and updates are free for the life of the product. One licence covers one PC.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every download includes a 30-day free trial with every feature switched on. No sign-up, no email and no card are needed.
What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
Without a licence the software becomes read-only. You can still open old bills, run reports and take backups, but you cannot create new bills or purchases until you activate a licence. Your data is never deleted.
How do I buy and activate a licence?
Open the app and note the Machine ID it shows (the app can open the buy page with the Machine ID filled in). Pay ₹1,500, send us the Machine ID, and you receive a licence key. Paste the key into the app. Activation works offline, so the billing PC does not need internet.
What does "lifetime" mean?
The licence is valid for as long as QuPOS is sold and supported as a product, on the one PC it was issued for, with all updates included. It does not expire after a year.
I have three counters. How many licences do I need?
One per PC, so three. Each PC has its own Machine ID and licence key. All three can share one SQL Server database.
Do I lose my licence if I reinstall Windows or QuPOS?
Reinstalling QuPOS on the same PC keeps working with your key. If you reinstall Windows or replace the PC and the Machine ID changes, contact us with your old and new Machine IDs and your payment details to have the licence moved.
Can I pay from outside India?
The price is ₹1,500 (INR). Message us on WhatsApp and we will share a way to pay from outside India.
Who makes QuPOS?
QuPOS is made by Qubha, a software company in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Sales and support are on WhatsApp, phone and e-mail, Monday to Saturday; the contact page has the numbers.
Offline use and database
Does QuPOS work without internet?
Yes, fully. Billing, printing, stock, reports, backup and licence activation all work offline. Internet is only used to download the installer and to check for updates.
Should I use SQLite or Microsoft SQL Server?
Use the built-in SQLite if you bill on one PC: it needs no setup at all. Choose Microsoft SQL Server or the free SQL Server Express when two or more billing counters on the same LAN must share one stock and one set of reports.
Can several billing counters share the same data?
Yes. Install SQL Server or SQL Server Express on one PC (or a small server), then point every QuPOS counter on the LAN to that database. Each counter bills at the same time and stock updates for all.
Where is my data stored?
On your own computer, in %ProgramData%\QubhaBilling (database, settings, licence, backups and logs), or in your own SQL Server. Nothing is sent to a cloud server.
How do backups work?
Take a backup with one click at any time, and turn on automatic daily backup to a folder you choose. Pointing it at a USB drive or a cloud-synced folder such as OneDrive or Google Drive gives you an off-PC copy. Restore is also one click.
Printers, scanners and labels
Which printers does it support?
Any 58 mm (2-inch) or 80 mm (3-inch) thermal receipt printer installed in Windows, and any A4 printer for full invoices. A3 invoices and Save as PDF are also available.
Should I buy a 2-inch or a 3-inch thermal printer?
3-inch (80 mm) is the better default for most shops: item names fit on one line and there is room for MRP, GST/VAT breakup and a UPI QR code. 2-inch (58 mm) printers are cheaper and smaller, and suit kiosks and accessory counters with short bills.
Which barcode scanners work?
Any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that works in keyboard (HID) mode, which covers almost every retail scanner. Plug it in and scan: there is nothing to configure in QuPOS.
Can it print barcode labels?
Yes. It generates EAN-13 or Code-128 barcodes and prints labels with shop name, price and MRP on 50×25 mm or 38×25 mm labels, 2-up and 3-up rolls, or A4 sheets with 40 or 65 labels.
Can it read weighing-scale barcodes?
Yes, in the Supermarket business type. Labels printed by a weighing scale with the 2x barcode prefix are read at the counter so the item and its weight come in with one scan.
Can the bill print silently without a print dialog?
Yes. Choose the printer once; bills then print silently, can auto-print after save, and can print more than one copy.
Can I add my logo and a UPI QR code to the bill?
Yes. The bill can carry an optional logo, header and footer text, a UPI payment QR code, the GST/VAT breakup, an HSN summary and the amount in words.
Tax and countries
Does it support GST?
Yes. Set a tax % and HSN code per item. Sales within your state show CGST and SGST; inter-state sales use IGST. The GST summary report is available rate-wise and HSN-wise for your accountant.
Does it support VAT?
Yes. Choose VAT for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Africa, the UK and other VAT countries, set your country and currency symbol, and the bill shows the VAT breakup. You can also choose no tax.
Can I use it outside India?
Yes. The country, tax system (GST, VAT or none) and currency symbol are configurable, so shops in the Gulf, South Asia, Africa, the UK, North America and Australia can use it.
Does it generate GST e-invoices (IRN) or file GST returns?
No. QuPOS prints GST tax invoices and gives you rate-wise and HSN-wise tax summaries to file returns, but it does not connect to the GST portal, generate IRNs or e-way bills, or file returns for you.
Business types and features
Which business types are supported?
Four, chosen in the first-run wizard and changeable later in Settings: Barcode Billing (general retail), Supermarket (grocery and kirana), Textile (garments, sarees, boutiques) and Mobile Shop (phones and accessories).
Can I track IMEI numbers?
Yes, in the Mobile Shop type. Enter IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 when you purchase handsets, pick them at billing, print warranty months on the bill, and search by IMEI to find which bill sold a phone.
Can I hold a bill and serve the next customer?
Yes. Press F6 to hold the current bill, bill the next customer, then press F7 to recall the held bill.
Can a customer pay part cash and part UPI?
Yes. Split a bill across Cash, Card, UPI and Credit; the change to return is shown.
Can I stop billing staff from changing prices or deleting bills?
Yes. There are two roles: Admin and User. Give each staff member their own User login from the Users page. Users can bill, take returns and see reports, but cannot edit items or prices, cancel bills or change settings, and their discount is capped. Keep Admin for the owner.
Can I import my items from Excel?
Yes. Save your sheet as CSV and import it. Items can also be exported to CSV.
Install and updates
What are the system requirements?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), 4 GB RAM and 300 MB disk space. The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is built into Windows 11 and is added by the installer on Windows 10 if missing.
Does it run on Windows 7, Mac or Android?
No. QuPOS is a Windows desktop application for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11.
How do updates work?
The app checks this website for a new version, downloads it and installs it. Your data, settings and licence are kept. Updates are free for licence holders.
Windows SmartScreen warned me about the installer. Is it safe?
Download only from this website. Every release lists its SHA-256 checksum on the download page so you can verify the file has not been altered. If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info and then Run anyway after checking the checksum.
